7 Uses for Petroleum Jelly

(source)
I was first introduced to petroleum jelly as a young gal when my mother used it to style my hair.  Although I have kindly shelved the item for that particular use, I still utilize it for other beauty reasons (and a not so beauty reason).  Why?  Because it's inexpensive (you can get a whole jar for under $2), it lasts FOREVER and it's proven to work!  Here are some of the ways I use it regularly:

Smoothing down my eyebrows.  When I get out of the shower, sometimes the eyebrows are wild & crazy!  I tame them with just a dab of petroleum jelly.  It also keeps the skin underneath very soft.

Chapped lips and skin.  Yes, I have chap stick and lip balm, but because I misplace it so often I always find myself using petroleum jelly to keep my kissers and chapped skin silky smooth.  I recently saw a very small, portable container of Vaseline in Target, perfect for a makeup bag.

Removing jewelry.  When my fingers are swollen, instead of running my hands under water (may tarnish my costume jewelry) I just use petroleum jelly around the top and bottom of where the ring is located to loosen up the area.  Removing that ring is a breeze!

Cleaning up nail polish.  I am pretty good painting my nails on my left hand, but on the right hand - not so much.  I use a little petroleum jelly around the sides and base of the nail bed, that way, when I paint over the lines I can gently wipe up the mishap... VOILA! Perfect mani (or pedi!)

WD40? Goo Gone?  What's that with petroleum jelly around?  You can apply petroleum to jelly to door hinges that squeak and even remove sticky substances from objects such as wood or some metals.

Dye jobs.  When I used to rinse and dye my own hair, I would use petroleum jelly around the hairline to not stain the skin around that area.

Makeup Remover.  This can be your make up wipe.  Cover face with petroleum jelly and use a tissue to remove makeup in a downward motion.  For eye makeup, dab the jelly on the tissue and carefully swipe it across your eyes.  Works like a charm! (Remember to wash your face afterwards, though).

Do you use petroleum jelly?  How do you use it?
